The Toaster

There's three ways to do things in the guitar business: the right way, the wrong way, and the Rickenbacker way. It's hard to argue with a company that's been operating continually for like 300 years and has done things their own way (for better or worse) the entire time. I offer the single-coil Rickenbacker toaster pickup in two styles: '50s wind and '60s wind. Both feature 1/4" alnico rod magnets like the original. To make it as clear as possible the '60s wind is "The Ric" sound. This is what was in both George Harrison's and Roger McGuinn's 12-string Rics. The most (only?) famous example of the '50s wind is what was in John Lennon's 325 Capri. That being said the '50s spec is still really cool and not as low output as the resistance numbers would have you believe due to the heavier gauge wire. They are brighter and twangier and Stratier.

'50s Wind - 42awg wire
Bridge 5.4k
Middle 5.1k
Neck 4.8k

'60s Wind - 44awg wire
Bridge 8k
Middle 7.4k
Neck 6.8k

Toasterbucker

So this is my own creation and nothing like the Rick ceramic blade humbuckers. I say it's my own creation, but I really just put two half-size toaster coils in series under a Toaster cover. This is probably the least creative, but most effective way to turn a single coil into a humbucker. This is pretty much how they turned the P90 into the PAF (and the rest is history! TADA!)

Higher-Gain

Picture
The Higher-Gain is my interpretation of of the early Hi-Gain pickups introduced after the toaster. Wound with the same 44awg wire as the toasters, but to a much higher resistance; 12k on the bridge and 10k on the neck. The big difference is how mine are constructed utilizing dual Ceramic 8 magnets and steel machine screws threaded into a 1018 keeper bar. 52mm bridge, 50mm middle and neck.
